Cuero Senior Jennings Boothe has been picked to play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 1A-2A-3A All-Star game on June 20th at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Boothe went 8-2 for the Gobblers with an ERA of 1.25 and 50 strikeouts. At the plate, Boothe batted .439 with 25 RBI's, 25 stolen bases. Boothe will play shortstop for the South All-Stars. |

AUSTIN -- Isaiah Glover did not want his Cuero teammates to go home empty-handed. Glover made his final lap around the track at Mike A. Myers Stadium a successful one Saturday by anchoring the Gobblers to a win in the 1,600-meter relay at the UIL State Track and Field Championships. "Everybody else had to get gold," Glover said.  From The Victoria Advocate: By Mike Forman • Wednesday, May 20, 2009 CORPUS CHRISTI - The finals of the boys 400-meter relay were about to begin Wednesday afternoon at Flour Bluff's Hornet Stadium and the Cuero runners were nowhere to be seen.
Cuero fans went through some anxious moments before the Gobblers made their way onto the track and took their positions.
"They made us change our shorts," Cuero coach Victor Mathis explained. "They had wing foots on them. We had worn them before at the regional meet and they had never said anything about them." Read More.. |
